Updated KTM Duke twins to be launched on February 23

After the RCs launch last month, KTM is coming with their next dose of thrill with the updated Duke twins, the 200 and the 390. The Duke 390 will be a completely new bike, while the Duke 200 is expected with noticeable updates.

These KTM Duke twins are dosed with more of a street fighter DNA that might turn out to be less off-road friendly, unlike the MY15 and MY16 Dukes.

Speaking about cosmetics, the KTM 390 Duke gets a bifurcated headlamp with LEDs, a new colour TFT instrument console with top speed clocker, 0-60 timer and smartphone-compatible ‘KTM MY RIDE’ tethering upfront. On the new trellis frame that features a bolt-on rear subframe, a 13.4 litres redesigned fuel tank sits that emerges sharply towards LED headlight with DRL.

The new side-mounted exhaust system will replace the underbelly exhaust to increase the ground clearance by 15 mm, making it 185 mm in total. Also on offer is the new Brembo braking system via Bosch 9MB two-channel ABS, wheelbase is reduced by 10 mm and seat height increased by 30 mm. Amongst other changes, the dry weight has been increased by 10 kg and torque by 2 Nm. Riding mode options have been added to the motorcycle.

Finally, the repositioned rear grab rail will make pillion riding more comfortable, the key slot has been moved to the fuel tank, and the instrument cluster has been revised.

The 200 Duke is visibly different than the 390 Duke as far as styling is concerned. The headlight will get a single unit with LED strips on the sides, unlike the split-from-center seen on the 390. The fuel tank extensions that are similar to the one seen on 390 will add to the sportiness character of the 200.

As far as the engine is concerned, the new 200 Duke will have the same 200 cc single cylinder, FI engine that produces 24.6 bhp of maximum power and 19.2 Nm of torque. Apart from the usual features like the upside down forks, mono shock, MRF rubbers in the front and rear, the 200 Duke will still continue to be offered without ABS and slipper clutch.

While the latest generation of the KTM 390 Duke has already been launched in Europe and the US at a starting price of $5,299 (approximately INR 3.57 lakh), expect price to hover around Rs 2.45 lakh. (ex-showroom Delhi)
