The legend is back, with a Bonneville heart
Triumph has always been at the forefront of blending classic looks with modern technology, and that reflects in the Speed Twin’s form and aesthetics, with the 14.5-litre signature sculpted fuel tank, comfortable stylish bench seat, brushed aluminum finish on the minimal front mudguard, throttle body covers, side panel finishers, and heel guards; and rear-end setup with a clear anodized aluminum swingarm topped off with elegant rear lights and bar end mirrors.
The Speed Twin borrows its motor from the Bonneville T120, an updated 1200cc, 8-valve, parallel-twin now running the same tune as the Thruxton. It features magnesium cam covers and a revised clutch assembly. The motor pushes out 95 bhp at 6750 rpm and 112Nm of torque at 4950 rpm.
This new engine is housed in a brand new chassis evolved from the Thruxton R, with lightweight cast aluminum wheels, twin Brembo brakes out front and shod with Pirelli Rosso Corsa 3 tires that will ensure spirited handling. The Speed Twin also gets Anti-locking Braking System (ABS) and a three-way switchable traction control (Road, Rain, and Sport mode).
And speaking about those long rides, the bike’s LED lighting promises greater durability and power efficiency, and the lighter feel of the torque-assist clutch will enhance comfort over both long journeys and stop-start urban commutes. In addition, feature-packed twin clocks, immobilizer and a USB socket are all included as standard.
The Triumph Speed Twin will be available in three colour options silver ice, storm grey, korosi red, storm grey, and jet black . The story doesn’t end there though, as Triumph will offer over 80 custom accessories for riders to further enhance the Speed Twin’s style, capability, comfort and security, in the pursuit of a true one-off special.
