Norton reveals the Superlight 650 at Motorcycle live

Norton Motorcycles has revealed the Superlight 650, a superbike which will be powered by a 650cc parallel twin motor that produces 105bhp and 74Nm of torque. The design and details have been based on Norton’s brand -new flagship superbike, the 200bhp V4 RR.

The 650cc superbike will get tech and safety features such as traction, wheelie and launch control along with a six-axis IMU. The bike will also come with three riding modes; Road, Sport and Pro-Race. along with a quick-shifter and auto-blipper. It also gets a 7-inch color HD intrument display that shows all the vital information.

The 650cc parallel twin motor is a stressed member within a twin-tube chassis, offering adjustable swing arm pivot and rake angle. On both ends the bike is fitted with fully-adjustable Ohlins suspension and 17-inch BST carbon wheels. Additionally it also gets an Ohlins steering damper which prevents aggressive head shaking under acceleration. Braking duties for the Superlight are carried out by 330mm floating Brembo discs at the front equipped with Brembo M50 radially mounted calipers and ABS.

The superbike weighs 158kg thanks to the aerodynamic kevlar reinforced carbon fairing with an 18-litre carbon fuel tank placed under the seat. Also available as an option, is a full titanium race exhaust which saves 6kg and adds an additional 6bhp of power. This exhaust is not road legal, Norton also claim this bike will be campaigned at the Isle of Man TT road races in the Lightweight class.
