Meka Vidhuraj On The Cusp of Gixxer Cup

Suzuki is one of the big players in motorcycle racing with its road and track development going hand in hand. Its philosophy in India has been similar and the Gixxer Cup bike has been improved with visible progress in lap times that are faster from the inaugural
2015 season.
With the same bikes used for both novice as well as the open classes, the Gixxer Cup is a level playing field for racers of all proficiencies. The added facet to the championships this year being the Red Bull Road To The Rookies Cup initiative, which was highly contested by racers who were 13-17 years old. The two round series was won by Ahmedabad’s Sachin Chaudhary who will now be representing the country at the qualifiers in Spain.
Joseph Matthew retook the lead in the Novice class championship by winning all three races in round three. Matthew led the championship after the opening round at Kari but poor finishes in the second round with his closest rival Amarnath Rajan winning all three at the weekend, saw him dropping down the order. Rajan came to the third round with no points from the first two races and just a third place finish in the final race, helping Matthew build up a 24-point buffer between the two in the championship stakes. Clinton Corderio and Peddu Sri Harsha are separated by just nine points in their hopes of finishing third in the championship.
Meka Vidhuraj, on the other hand, has literally run away with the Open championship as he is on a terrific roll after four consecutive victories in the class. He sits firmly in control of the championship with 143 points, requiring only eight points from the final weekend to win the 2016 title. Vivian Gladwin and B Rajnikanth are separated by just eight points for second. 2015 Gixxer Novice Cup winner Vishvadev Murlidharan is two points behind Prabhu V, the latter collecting 82 points and sitting fourth on the table.
