IBW 2017: All you need to know (so far)

India Bike Week (IBW) 2017 began on a high note yesterday as riders all across the country rode to Vagator, Goa. #TheGreatMigration began with around 20,000 bikers and 270 clubs participating in this iconic event. If you aren’t already there, make sure you head to Goa right away as the event concedes today, late evening.

Day 1 began with a surfeit of enthusiasm where BMW Motorrad launched its latest K 1600 B Bagger and the 2017 R nineT Racer. Triumph Motorcycles unveiled the new Bonneville Speedmaster. The first and only production chopper motorcycle brand from India, Avantura Choppers, too made its public debut. Indian Motorcycle showcased the Indian Scout Bobber for the IBW audience and CEAT launched a new range of tyres for 200-400cc sports bikes. A purpose built flat-tracker made by Rajputana Customs based on the Street 750 was used to demonstrate flat track riding by expert riders brought in by Harley-Davidson.

Along with that, there were a slew of other activities events like ‘Build-Off’ and Mod Bike Showcase, Mega Moto Vlogger Meet and Tiger Training Academy. Martin Da Costa also hosted Freddie Spencer, one of the greatest and youngest world champions of the 1980s and Leslie Porterfield, the fastest Woman on a Motorcycle – the icons of motorcycle riding. Bikers were drooling over the prospect of meeting their superhero on two wheels.

India Bike Week continues to be the home of world biking and is the largest of its kind biking festival in Asia. The event puts the best names in bike design and manufacturing, the rarest biker and accessory shopping, with music, barbecues, bikini bike wash, beer gardens, training academies and track racing under one roof. A true blue biker’s paradise then.
