Hyosung heads to Motoroyale

Hyosung heads to Motoroyale

What’s the news about Hyosung?

Word on the street is that brand Hyosung is preparing to move out of DSK Moto Wheels and into Ajinkya Firodia’s Motoroyale stable.  This is indeed an ironic turn of events for it is with the Firodia owned Kinetic Group that Hyosung had entered the Indian market nearly two decades ago with the Aquila cruiser and the Comet naked roadster. At the time, long before the arrival of other big bike makers and in the post Rajdoot Yamaha RD 350 era, these two gave many enthusiasts their first big bike feel. Unlike other motorcycle brands that have maintained steady partnerships Hyosung has changed hands several times in the interim years, moving from Kinetic to the Garware Group and then to DSK Moto Wheels.

Sources say that with DSK Moto Wheels all but ready to close down operations and with sales of Hyosung motorcycles dwindling in the wake of better products from better known competing manufacturers, it was only a matter of time before the brand moved again. To its credit however the brand did try to refresh its lineup over the years by introducing motorcycles like the ST7 cruiser in addition to the fully faired GT650R, GT250R and the Aquila Pro. The company also showcased a prototype GD250N naked motorcycled powered a 250cc single but troubled waters put paid to any hopes of the motorcycle being launched.

What to expect after the move

Now, with the brand moving to Motoroyale, which already has MV Agusta, Norton and SWM, things might look up again for the ailing Korean manufacturer. Should things work out, expect announcements around the introduction of the production version of the GD250N and its fully faired sibling GD250R with the naked roadster GT650P and fully faired GT650RC slotted in for later.

Of course there is no official word from any of the stakeholders involved yet but we will track this story closely and keep you up to date here on Fast Bikes India.
