Harley-Davidson hike prices across range

The price hike is the result of the government’s decision to increase customs duty of CKD components by 5 per cent

Harley-Davidson motorcycles have increased the prices across its model line-up. The hike is primarily because of the rise in custom duty of CKD components of motorcycles from 10 to 15 per cent, which was announced by the government a couple of months ago. As a result, the entry level Street 750 is dearer by Rs 8000. The biggest price hike comes for the CVO Limited, at Rs 4.31 lakh. Earlier the CVO Limited saw a price cut from Rs 53.72 lakh to Rs. 49.99 lakh, but now it has shot up again to Rs 54.30 lakh.

While Ducati and Yamaha are enjoying the benefits of the reduction of import duties of CBUs which naturally makes their CBU products more affordable, bike makers like Harley-Davidson see a hike in their locally assembled models due to increase in the customs duty on CKD units. These manufacturers have been primarily shipping components like engine and gearbox which now attract more duties. Here is the revised list of prices of the Harley-Davidson motorcycles:
