Dakar 2017: Tough day for Sherco TVS

Juan Pedrero, Sherco-TVS’s lead rider who won the prologue stage of the 2017 Dakar had a difficult day four, dropping five places to end the day 14th overall. The stage was broken into two parts with the section over the 5000-metre pass neutralised for safety reasons. In the first half of the stage, famously difficult and demanding on navigation skills, Pedrero went off track couple of times and in the urgency and desperation to get back on track, he fell a few times getting disoriented and losing even more time. At the bivouac he complained that the road book wasn’t accurate and in places where tracks were marked, there weren’t any and he lost time trying to get his bearings.

In the second section he went flat out to make up lost time and he made up over 12 places to finish 14th overall on the new Sherco-TVS bike that’s running a higher-power prototype engine.

Adrian Metge who had an engine failure yesterday had a very difficult day, starting near the back of the field and having to ride through the tremendous dust kicked up by the slower riders who were starting ahead of him. He didn’t have any navigation issues and made up 56 places to finish the day 68th overall. Meanwhile Aravind KP is out of the event after crashing 40km into the stage and destroying his bike and also damaging his right shoulder.
