CFMoto, a 30-year old Chinese manufacturer is soon to make its presence felt in India. The company has entered in a joint venture with the Bangalore-based AMW motorcycles. AMW’s website has listed as many as 14 models on their website including ATVs and side-by-sides from the manufacturer.

The naked motorcycles, 250NK, 650NK and the sports tourer, 650MT have already been spotted testing in India. When launched, these bikes will take on the likes of the KTM 250 Duke, the Kawasaki Z650 and the Kawasaki Versys 650.

CFMoto’s second inning in India

Before you fret upon its Chinese origins, CFMoto manufactures engines and components for over 1500 companies, including KTM. In 2017, KTM entered in a joint venture with CFMoto and the Chinese manufacturer will make middle-weight engines for the Austrian giant, including the LC8 mills.

This is not CFMoto’s first venture in India. The company tried to enter our market a few years back with Eider Motors. However, the venture never took off as Eider Motors filed for bankruptcy. Now, CFMoto is back for its second innings in the country with AMW Motorcycles.

Who is AMW Motorcycle?

AMW Motorcycles is a Bangalore-based company formed in September 2018. The company is in process of setting up the assembly plant and has been testing the CFMoto motorcycles around Hyderabad.  While not much is known about the company, their website also mentions, cruisers, sports bikes and café racers, which is not what CFMoto does. Maybe another venture is on the cards? Only time will tell.

Internationally, the CFMoto motorcycles are aggressively priced and with the local assembly, we expect it to be same here. And with all the test-mules doing rounds, we predict that the launch may happen as soon as next year.
